Fed by the Durance and Ubaye rivers, Serre-Ponçon lake is the second largest artificial lake in Europe at 3,000 hectares. This beautiful blue jewel of water is surrounded by mountainous scenery. Like a sea in the mountains!

To take advantage of Serre-Ponçon's fantastic viewpoints, walkers should follow the network of footpaths that run around the vast stretch of turquoise water.

Built over the Durance river, the impressive Serre-Ponçon dam – 123 metres high and 650 metres wide at its base – is the biggest earth dam in Europe!
